Get the right treatment when you need it
There are many different bugs around at this time of year which can cause coughs and colds.
In most cases, a cold will clear up in a few days and your child will be safe without the need to see a GP.
If you or your child need NHS help during half-term, visit the Stop Think Choose website here.
Make sure you have a well-stocked medicine cabinet at home with the basic essentials, such as paracetamol, ibuprofen, cold remedies, indigestion treatment and antihistamine. Visit a pharmacy for minor illnesses, or an urgent treatment centre if you have an injury.
Urgent treatment centres are open every day and treat minor injuries such as sprains, minor burns and broken bones. No appointment is needed, just walk-in.
